Royal Coat of Arms Removal

The ballroom was an annex added to Government House in 1891 for social functions. In its early days it also served as a chamber for the Legislative Council, and during the occupation the Japanese Military Governor occupied it. Dominating the stage, where entertainment was provided to diners during their meal, was the soon to be removed Royal Coat of Arms.

Uniform buttons, cap and lapel badges

Uniform buttons all cap and lapel badges are due to be stripped off at midnight on 30 June 1997, and replaced with a design featuring the bauhinia flower, the chosen insignia for Hong Kong as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

Royal Mail and Stamps

Definitive and commemorative stamps isued in Hong Kong over the last one hundred and fifty years. "Pillar-box red" has always been the colour of the Royal Mail.
